Privacy Policy

What we collect. And why.

Plain English, no legal maze. Here's what Ask Alfred collects, what we do with it, and what you can do about it.

Last updated: July 2026

Who we are

Ask Alfred is run by AskAlfred Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, registered office in Cambridge, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK GDPR, we're the data controller for the information described here. Any question about this policy or your data goes to ceo@alfredanswered.com.

What we collect

We only collect what Alfred needs to do the job you've asked him to do.

What you give us directly

What we collect from services you connect

Only if you choose to connect them, and only ever read-only, we never write to your books or move your money without your say-so.

What we collect automatically

Basic technical information (device, browser, pages visited) to keep the product working and secure. When you sign up for early access, Cloudflare's Turnstile check may set a short-lived cookie to confirm you're a person and not a bot. We don't use advertising trackers.

What we use it for

We do not use your data to train our AI models. Your figures are used to answer your questions and generate your findings, full stop. Calls to the AI models behind Alfred run under standard commercial terms, not the terms that let a provider learn from your data.

Who we share it with

Where your data lives

Your records are hosted in the EU: our database sits in London, and documents are stored in EU-region storage. Every client's data lives in its own separate, isolated space; it's never mixed with anyone else's, and no other client can ever see it.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet our legal and accounting obligations. After that, we delete or anonymise it. You can ask us to delete your data sooner, see below.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you can ask us to:

Email ceo@alfredanswered.com for any of the above. If you're not happy with how we've handled your data, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for any change that matters, let you know directly.
